Leadership

Ed Garahan Chief Executive Officer

A recognized expert in multiple aspects of development and construction, Ed provides visionary leadership while overseeing the wide-ranging activities of The Carbon Companies. In his 4 decades in the industry, Ed has directed – or was instrumental to the construction and development of – thousands of multi-family units, more than 40 hotels, 250 restaurants, multiple office buildings, numerous hospitals and healthcare facilities, and many industrial projects.

Kurt E. Jones Chief Operating Officer

As a partner in The Carbon Companies and a 40-year track record of excellence, Kurt brings proven talent and insight to every Carbon project. He leads the development and construction teams, ensuring all projects are delivered on time and on budget. Kurt’s background includes a degree in Building Construction from Texas A&M University and experience in building single-family custom homes, single family attached, office, retail, and more than 32,000 multi-family units. The depth and breadth of his construction knowledge provides our clients the added benefit of having a seasoned problem solver expediting their projects.

John C. Hood Chief Financial Officer

John’s extensive background and skill in accounting and financial strategies make him the ideal person to manage Carbon’s corporate accounting and tax activities. He maintains strong relationships with banks and other financial institutions while providing critical, in-depth fiscal analysis for each Carbon venture.

Travis E. Jones, Esq. Vice President & General Counsel

A vital member of the Carbon team since 1996, Travis plays an active role in the development, design, and construction of all Carbon projects. He oversees all project management teams, as well as all field operations, and is responsible for the overall coordination, communication, scope of work, schedule, contracts, and budget of all Carbon projects. He has been instrumental in the development and construction of over 3,500 multi-family units.

Travis is a licensed attorney and member of the State Bar of Texas, with degrees from Texas A&M University and Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. His expertise in project management, risk allocation, and cost value analysis allows Carbon to consistently meet project deadlines and fiscal projections.

Katrina Hoover Job Cost Accountant

An important Carbon team member since 2012, Katrina helps us reach project goals by building strong relationships and a team attitude with our family of sub-contractors and vendors. She specializes in contracts, insurance, job costing, budgets, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. With over two decades in the construction business, Katrina has experience in virtually every category of construction, including high-rises, heavy highway, commercial, medical, warehouses, restaurants, retail and multi-family.

Born in Lewisville, Texas, Katrina is an active member of her church and has a passion for travel and gardening.

Cole Bradford Development Analyst

Responsible for collaborating with the CFO regarding financial strategies for all projects, Cole assists in securing financing, raising equity, and maintaining investor and lender relationships. Cole is an experienced asset manager, market analyst, and project underwriter.

Cole was born in Plano, Texas, and earned his BBA in Finance from TCU. In his spare time, Cole enjoys golf, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends, especially his fiancé, Merissa.

Marci Neece Human Resources Director

Marci manages payroll, human resources, and accounts payable. She brings two decades of accounting experience, ranging from receivables, payables, project billing, and full-cycle accounting. Her knowledge spans multiple industries including auto dealerships, property management, and construction.

Marci holds a degree in Business Management with a focus in accounting, and she believes learning new skills is fundamental in growing as an employee and as a person.

Vini Deraj Project Manager

Vini joined the company in 2021, bringing with him 10 years of experience in construction field operations and design-build. He’s served in a variety of roles, including project engineer, manager, and superintendent. At Carbon, he is responsible for project management and pre-construction planning.

Among countless other projects, Vini was part of an award-winning team that built the first mass timber hotel in North America

Vini grew up in Decatur, graduated from UNT, and now calls Denton home. He loves road trips with his wife and son, and he loves seeing the world – he has visited over 20 countries, so far.

Stephanee Stephens Project Accountant

Stephanee has been in the accounting field for 20 years and has a vast knowledge in construction accounting. She enjoys monitoring the progress of all projects and maintaining an excellent relationship with all subcontractors and vendors. She strives to continue to grow in this field so she can be a valuable team member for all projects.

Currently, Stephanee is working on the Woodland Cottages Senior Living project in Fredericksburg.
